About me

Hello, I'm Theresa

I'm a person-centred counsellor, and I feel passionately about helping adults and children move forward in their lives - towards emotional stability and a fullness of life that can feel out of reach when things are hard.

I work with people from diverse cultures, lifestyles and belief systems, with faith or none, always respecting your individual values. My approach is person-centred: I accept you and empathise without judgement, so that trust and honesty can grow between us.

I'm holistic too - I look at the whole person, adjusting to how you present, whether that's your spirituality, your experiences of trauma, or your ethnicity. I'm trained for both adult and child therapy, and I'm trauma-informed and attachment-focused.

My approach

How I work with you

Therapy is a relationship, and it works best when it's built around you. Here's what shapes the way I practise.

Attachment and relationships

I assess attachment style to understand how your relationships are formed and what might trigger you, so we can work with the roots, not just the symptoms.

Trauma at the centre

Identifying and gently working with trauma is an essential part of successful therapy. We go at your pace, and only when you're ready.

A blend of approaches

I draw on person-centred talking therapy alongside humanistic, integrative and relational approaches, CBT, transactional analysis, and creative, art and play therapy - adapted to your preferences and needs.

At your pace

I'm sensitive to your values and needs, always working at your pace and around your priorities. I've seen people recover in 1 to 5 sessions regularly, and clients often tell me they wish they'd sought therapy sooner.
